SEO-TipsIn the case of duplicate content, SEO specialists often have a different approach dealing with the problem. This is mostly because of the numerous types of duplicate content that can appear, lowering the overall rating of a website, and having a negative effect on practically any online business plan.

Most Common Duplicate Content Sources

Probably the most common source of duplicate content comes from websites or blogs that present short parts of an article or blog post intended to offer the reader a glimpse at what the content is about. Although it does not usually seem like a few hundred words of duplicate content can be so bad, as the number of articles grow, so does the number of identical fragments.

There are, of course, ways to deal with this problem; however, when it comes to duplicate content, SEO methods aren’t always easy to apply. You can, for example, simply write short descriptions yourself, and place them instead of the article fragments, but, this would take quite some time.

Another way in which the problem often affects an online business or website is when site owners republish large amounts of articles, links or other content, in the hope that they can get a lot of traffic without too much work.

This issue is much worse than the one mentioned earlier, as the amount of duplicate content is larger, and even if the website owner has legal consent from the initial publisher of the articles, search engines often significantly lower the rating of websites that have any type of identical content.

How You Can Deal with the Problem

When it comes to duplicate content, SEO related concepts can provide some impressive advantages. One of the easiest ways to deal with the problem is to use the meta robots tag in order to tell search engines not to index the duplicate content pages present on your website.

Also, there are certain content management systems and blogging tools that can be of great assistance in eliminating your content problem. Some of them can provide you with plug-ins that will help you “noindex” your category and archive pages, automatically make all your links canonical, and deal with other duplicate content issues.

When it comes to duplicate content, SEO tools can often do much more than just edit your website. There are certain programs that can scan the entire internet to check whether someone copied your articles and posted them on their own website. Although this is rarely a problem, as at most, you might find a few pages presenting small fragments of text that could be identical to yours, it does pay off to be cautious.

As it can clearly be seen, identical content on a page can be quite troubling, especially if you want to rely on advertising and need your website to rank high in a search engine result page, bringing more traffic.

As there are more and more issues regarding duplicate content, SEO experts will likely keep coming up with original ideas and applications to help you deal with the problem, and ensure that your website can become successful.
